Organizational Communications Leader

Complex systems often contain patterns and relationships that aren't immediately visible. Understanding them requires curiosity, observation, and a willingness to look beyond the obvious.

I approach communications as an organizational system, connecting strategy, audience understanding, research, and creative execution to help organizations communicate with greater clarity, consistency, and impact.

An Interdisciplinary Philosophy

Science teaches us to discover through observation, curiosity, and inquiry. Art helps us recognize connections, revealing patterns, relationships, and perspectives that might otherwise go unnoticed. Communication brings discovery and understanding together, shaping insights into ideas, strategies, and actions that create meaningful change.

Three disciplines. One interconnected way of thinking.

Discover.

Science asks questions, investigates what lies beneath the surface, and reveals how things work.

Connect.

Art invites us to see differently, recognize patterns, and discover relationships that give information meaning.

Shape.

Communication transforms understanding into shared meaning, influencing how people think, connect, decide, and act.

Where Curiosity Meets Strategy

My professional perspective has been shaped by an unusual combination of communications, creative practice, scientific exploration, and academic research.

Through scientific photography and microscopy, I've learned to appreciate the structures and relationships that aren't immediately visible. Through communications research, I examine how people encounter, interpret, and respond to information.

Both perspectives reinforce a principle that guides my work: meaningful solutions often begin by looking beyond the obvious.

Explore Research & Ideas

Communications is More Than Information.

Organizations communicate through relationships, decisions, experiences, and systems, not simply through publications, websites, or campaigns. I approach communications by examining how information moves, how audiences interpret messages, and how communication can strengthen understanding, alignment, trust, and participation.

Strategic Judgment

Recognizing challenges, questioning assumptions, evaluating alternatives, and making independent decisions that align communications with organizational priorities.

Systems Leadership

Developing processes and communication structures that strengthen coordination, clarify expectations, and connect stakeholders across an organization.

Creative Direction

Bringing strategy to life through thoughtful design, compelling storytelling, multimedia communication, and an understanding of how audiences engage with information.

Strategic Decisions in Practice

Effective communications leadership requires more than producing compelling messages. It requires recognizing problems, understanding their organizational implications, and making decisions that improve how people and information connect.

My work explores three interconnected challenges:
